about
The lead track from her limited edition EP, 'Carry Your Heart' is an epic riff on an e.e. cummings poem, whirling and careering to its glorious conclusion like an ice cream van at the end of the world.
lyrics
Today you're just a number
Didn't think you'd fall from favour so fast
Put one foot in front of the other
And pray that nobody will ask
How you carry your heart...
I danced you to the edge of love and
I folded your heart into mine to make a paper dove
With one foot in front of the other
You pray that nobody will ask
How you carry your heart...
And as I fall from hope to here
With your heart on my back
How did we get here?
With your heart on my back
With your blood still on my tongue and words that can't be undone
How do we get to carry our hearts?
Carry your heart
You carry your heart
How do you carry your heart?

The stunning first EP from Padraig Whelan. We were introduced to each other by Rough Trade a few years ago and have been trading BVs ever since (his dulcet tones appear on my version of Landslide). Catherine AD

Never heard of the Anchoress before hearing a gig at the Union Chapel on the day this launched. I bought the tickets entirely on a whim, thinking it might be a nice birthday present for my sister at one of our favourite venues. We both loved the gig - a discovery for us both and so nice when you discover new music by surprise. The songs played from this album were all beguiling interpretations of classics, which we loved, and the rest of the gig was great too. CAD has two new fans. bmhj
An arresting live album recorded at the Unitarian Church, Brighton, England that’s a showcase for Julia Biel’s commanding stage presence. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 31, 2021
Keeley Forsyth, on The Leaf Label, writes spectral, pulsing songs that swaddle her mournful alto in mist-like synths. Bandcamp New & Notable Dec 2, 2019
